As an ex-New Yorker born in the Bronx and raised on Long Island, I found myself and my husband (at the time) on a plane in 1972 researching some areas in San Diego, CA. As it turned out, I told my husband that I would never leave my parents no matter how much he wanted to move to California. The problem... they left me! As many East Coasters do, they decided to retire to Florida before we went to California! Needless to say, I no longer had an excuse.
So, there I am, in a state I had never been to before, with two children, a son age seven and a daughter age three, a new car sitting in my new driveway, and directions on the seat showing me how to go north to Los Angeles, and south to the city of San Diego. My husband kissed me goodbye, and off he went to his new job!
Well... I fell in love! What’s not to love about San Diego? As the children grew, I decided to work again and found a job as a public relations representative for a musical entertainment company. In those days, they were “allowed” to advertise for a specific sex, that sex being male, but it sounded interesting, so I applied (nothing ventured, nothing gained was my motto). As it turned out, the people who owned the company came from Long Island!! We connected and I was hired!
It was an incredible experience for me. The orchestra was quite well known and some of our clients were celebrities who were in need of a fabulous night of musical entertainment. So, there I was in Richard Dreyfuss’ office, with he and his mom talking about Richard’s wedding plans. Then, sitting down with Milton Berle until it was his turn to get on stage. Oh, I don’t want sound like I’m bragging, but what I’m leading up to is that I realized I LOVED working with people, and I was darn good at it! After being with them for almost ten years, I decided to investigate the world of real estate. That was in 1991, I found my passion and never looked back!!
After living in my first California home for twenty-five years, the new community I had moved to in 1972 was turning around and younger families were, once again, moving in, I thought it might be time to move. What finally did it was coming home one evening and finding ten twelve-year-olds playing hockey in my driveway. I remember driving into my garage saying, “I’m outta here… been there, done that!”
I had sold property in Ocean Hills Country Club, thought it was a fabulous place, heard a few “back east” accents (and, yes, my heart went pitter-patter), and decided to take the plunge. I purchased my home in 1998 and can say that it was the best decision I ever made.
I now have four wonderful grandchildren and they are the joys of my life. Seth, age four and his new baby brother, Sage, live in Houston, Texas, with my son and his wife, and my daughter lives in Encinitas, California (about twenty minutes away) with her son, Sammy, age nine, and daughter, Shayna, age five. I am blessed to say the least.
Now that you’ve read all about me, I’d love the opportunity to learn about you and your needs. I look forward to discussing my methods for helping you achieve the unrivalled quality of life that Ocean Hills Country Club provides its residents.
